Error accessing Net Promoter Score survey in Lightning: Incorrect number of parameters for function 'PARENTGROUPVAL()'. Expected 2, received 3

Symptoms

You are using Simple Survey, and encounter the following error when accessing the packaged Net Promoter Score report from the Lightning Experience: Incorrect number of parameters for function 'PARENTGROUPVAL()'. Expected 2, received 3.

Solutions

This error is related to the "Percent of Total" report formula used inside the Net Promoter Score report when accessed from Lightning Experience.

You can work around this issue by following the steps outlined below.


Step 1: Clone the existing Net Promoter System Report (Salesforce Classic)
  1. Switch to Salesforce Classic and clone the existing Net Promoter Score report.
  2. Delete the "Percent of Total" formula from the report.
  3. Save the report, providing it with a custom name.

Step 2: Update the cloned report (Lightning Experience)
  1. Switch back to Lightning Experience, and navigate to the custom report you just created.
  2. From the Fields section in the left-hand panel, click "Create Formula."
  3. Enter "Percent of Total" (or a custom name of your choice) as the Column Name.
  4. Select "Percent" as the Formula Output Type, "0" for Decimal Points.
  5. Copy/Paste the following as your formula: RowCount/PARENTGROUPVAL(RowCount, ROW_GRAND_SUMMARY) * 100
  6. Navigate to the Display tab and select "Specific Groups," select "Net Promoter System," and then click Apply.
  7. Run your report and ensure you've saved all changes.

Status

Internet Creations will be re-working the Net Promoter Score report in a future release to include better parity between Lightning Experience & Salesforce Classic.
